How does v6 handle .rar .r01 .r02 ...etc?

I have downloaded a set of files via a nzb that contained files .rar, .r01 up to .r79 and par2 using 6.01 B3.
I noticed that Newsbin downloaded all par2 files first before starting on the rar files and when all files had downloaded nothing happened, it didn't try to unrar the files and I had to use WinRAR to open the archive.
So how does Newsbin handle these files because I thought it could?

Thanks

That typically suggests there's something wrong with the PAR files. It'll keep downloading pars until it gets a valid one. If you want to PM me the subject of the download, I can try it.

Might try Quickpar on the PAR files and see if the files are listed in them. It's rare but, I have seen bad par sets before.

It's handles r01...rar files the same as the newer style rars.

It's what I suspected, the pars weren't any good. At least Quickpar said they didn't have any files in them. Quickpar is the current PAR reference.

Was that the reason newsbin didn't unrar the files automatically because of the corrupt pars?
Could you not just tell newsbin to unrar anyway and ignore the pars?

It's funny, if there were no pars, it would have unrared the files but, because there were pars there, it was waiting for good pars that never arrived. My thought is, this happens so seldom it might not be worth special code.

Maybe I'll add those files to my test server and see what I can make Newsbin do.

I added the special code yesterday. It will try to unrar now even though the PARS are bad.
