RC3 Header download high CPU usage

I noticed this on RC2 and I just installed RC3 and get the same issue. Downloading headers with compression spikes CPU 75% and higher resulting in sporadic mouse cursor freezes.

I thought it might be Giganews Accelerator. I took GNA out of the loop and got the same issue. It goes away when header download is complete but during header download the real throughput can vary wildly. Sometimes it can take a couple of minutes to get headers. During that time its move the mouse then watch and wait until the mouse cursor moves. :)

Other than that things seem solid so far.

In the options, try checking "Background Updates".

Explains it. I never have mouse stalling though, that's pretty unusual. You don't need the accelerator any more. It just increases CPU load.

Ok thanks. I'll try the "insert headers in the background." I know I can dispense with GNA but it's convenient when running multiple readers I can set the max for total bandwidth with one click. But I'll try it using internal compression if the mouse still lags. I just have to wait for header count to build up to try it now. :)

edit: using Insert Headers in Background made a world of difference. No mouse cursor lag now.
