How do I show the full subject lines on the search tab?

Postby DaveXVI » Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:36 am

Trying out RC1, it seems that "Show Filenames" is the default for the screens that show headers, which is not a good choice for most of my groups (you can't tell what the subject is). It took me a while to find out how to show the full subject line in the group tabs (you set the "Display Settings" to None in the dropdown box), but that box isn't on the Search tab.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Seems like it's a bug. Exit Newsbin, edit the NBI file then delete all instances of "Showfiles=?"

Then restart Newsbin and see if that changed the symptoms.

Looks like that fixed it, thank you.

I do think you should consider putting a toggle for "show filenames" in the view menu, so it's accessible to all screens. It would be easier to find in the group windows, and you sometimes want it in the search or download windows.

Woke up thinking "I need a hide old shortcut". Maybe a "Show Filenames" one too.

If it can be done w/o moving the view it would be really great. (By moving the view, I mean that I think it currently (when refreshing/repainting Subject) will move to the top of the list, so you don't get to see "the other" representation of what you where looking at (that didn't make sense in the "wrong" representation) w/o scrolling/guessing where you were...))

Along these same lines, I'd like to suggest the following despite knowing v6 is feature locked.
I absolutely love being able to search for something in v6, and then search through the result by typing into the search box; however, I frequently hit enter after typing the second search. Doing that resets the results and searches for the 2nd search across however many groups I have identified. Is it possible to add another search box for searching through results, or possibly the same could be accomplished via a "Search Through Results" check box?

Regards!

I've been hit by that too. Not sure what the proper solution is at this point.
