Version 6 Bug Tracking

This is the place to help test and discuss Version 6 Beta releases.

Version 6 Bug Tracking

Postby dexter » Wed Feb 02, 2011 2:57 pm

I've created a wiki page to start tracking bugs. You can post confirmed bugs here, PM them to me, or submit them through our Technical Support Form.

A confirmed bug means that at least one other person has recreated the problem.

UPDATE: If you are experiencing an issue you think might be a bug, start a new thread. If it turns out it is a bug, then you can post to this thread.

Hi Dexter & Team

at the moment it doesnt seem to be possible to sort the groups list
may be not hooked up yet but for me personaly very important

in V 5.59 you could drag and drop the groups on a position in the list that you wanted
them to be - please make this possible again

2nd bug: if you choose from from groups list show posts special from one group
and then enter a day range you get the error box FROM DATE must be less than TO DATE - in the Versions
before it was the other way round - you had to put in for example 30 DAYS to 0 DAYS old
now even if I follow the error message I dont get any result in the posts list

the same happens if you use the calendar option

1) Yeah, not hooked up
2) Yeah, something's not right

I've logged them on the buglist

Is 'Toggle Grid' supposed to persist? If so it isn't working this way.

Definitely would love to get back the ability to adjust the group list as well as the individual groups within.

Also, I'm getting an error when I try to double-click to open an NZB file:

"Warning - Another Newsbin with the same Configuration is already Running - Exiting to Preserve data files".

If I click "File", "Load NZB's", and select the NZB file, it will open as a tab in Newsbin. I will then need to select the file and add it to the download list. Is this normal?

It could be an installer errors where it is not updating the file association on an upgrade from v5 to match the new binary name? I am not near Newsbin at the moment to check this out.

opening nzb file directly (without saving to disc) from a site like binsearch results in empty tab (no files on it)
only saving it to disc and then open it works

Looks like a reboot fixed this. Files are now populating within the downloads area. This whole interface does take some getting used to. Slicker looking though. Keep up the good work gents. Quality product.

That specific error happens when you have two different versions of Newsbin installed and the wrong one gets started when an NZB gets double-clicked.

I'm having issues where I've added multiple NZB's to the download list, and they start downloading ok, but now they are hanging there, partially downloaded. Status bar on the rar file is purple. Most of the parts within are 90%+ downloaded, but it will not complete it.

Not enough information. Open some of them up (click on the arrow) and see what files didn't download and if any of the chunks are red or black.

Version 6 beta doesn't assemble incompletes nor does it do retry's. You have to do that by hand until it gets hooked up. If you have some red or black blocks, you might have to right click and "Assemble incompletes" to make it download PAR files.

Re: Version 6 Bug Tracking

I did. All of the rar archive parts showed red across the board, no black boxes. The par files had the first two archive parts grayed out, and the rest were blank. Once I manually selected to assemble the incomplete first two par files, the remaining par files started to download. None would be complete fully though. I was able to assemble incomplete files for the entire rar/par set, but there are not enough par files to repair the archive. This is the same for three sets. Other sets have been successful. I am testing another one as I type this.

Red means server errors. Click the logging tab to see what they are. If you are getting error #430 then the post is not on the server.

If there is red in the progress bar, there should be errors. You may have to scroll through a bunch of informational messages though. You could clear the logging tab then retry the ones that are showing up as red to isolate the messages.

NOTE: This really needs to be in its own thread. This thread was not intended for troubleshooting.

Not a bug, but you were considering adding under Filename Options:

Artist - Album (adding a space between the hyphen.)

If already mentioned I'll flog myself.

When auto hide is enabled hovering over an icon changes it to a description which makes it difficult if you want to rapidly go through the different views because your pointer is now somewhere else. Since the description appears in the window itself IMO the icon should remain as is so you can essentially go through all the views just by moving the pointer left or right. Perhaps you could change the appearance of the icon to indicate it is the active one.

Hope I stated this clearly.

Took me awhile to figure out how to do this but it works just like I want it to work. It seems a little convoluted moving tabs around. I would think just moving individual tabs where you want them is the way to go. I had to un-autohide them, float them, use the direction thingy, then autohide them. To get thim into the order I want I had to to this starting with the tab I want last, then the penultimate one and so on. Just moving the tabs in the line where they are would be alot easier.

You can move the tabs in the line where you want them to be. I made a video of it but haven't posted it yet, still need to do some editing. I think a video will be easier than trying to explain with words.

There isn't much information here to go on. We've identified some issues with Hide old so wait until the next beta and try again to see if we addressed your specific issue. If it isn't fixed in the next beta, start a new thread and describe exactly what you are doing and seeing. The purpose of this thread is to identify confirmed bugs. By confirmed, I mean it has at least one other person reporting the same issue. Best way to do this is with a separate thread.

I see a behaviour where the background color of e.g. downloaded posts is not showing when you reload posts (open group with downloaded posts).
Is this meant by design?

This bug is confirmed. It has existed for a while with a number of betas. I think my first report of it was with beta 11 but I am pretty sure it was there before.

There have been other reports in the forums of this problem:

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28131&p=172629&hilit=hide+old#p172629

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28210&p=173000&hilit=hide+old#p173000

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28245&p=173088&hilit=hide+old#p173088

As well as my two previous reports

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28255

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28242

and in the following post Quade acknowledges the problem

viewtopic.php?f=43&t=28127&p=172452&hilit=hide+old#p172452

I think it is time to make this one an official bug. And it is an important fix as filtering out downloaded posts is a pretty basic and necessary function.

Love the new v6 UI... one pet peeve, however, is that there are colons: after: every: thing:
All of the column headers and tabs have a colon after them. This is not standard Windows (refer to Explorer).
Minor and cosmetic I know, but now that in v6 the UI is more of a "feature" a little polish in this area couldn't hurt.

Cheers,

Autoload NZB Path

I have my newsbin setup with multi-nzb load folders so I can autoload a nbz to a specfic folders like anime.nzb to anime folder but this new 6.01 beta 1,all files in the nzb are loaded into the default download folder regardless which folder I place the nzb. this problem only stared in 6.01 beta 1.

B4 foreign/random characters instead of date

Postby EvilMink » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:23 pm

Date field displays foreign/random (seen chinese/korean/arabic chars, but also name imtf.dll like if some buffer was displayed instead of date part. Hour is displayed seemingly normal.) Displayed string seems to be constant for entire group/gog regardless of date. For the "Download list" date field it changes, anyway it seems to be enough to click on the line within download list window to see the field changed. Reverted to B3.

GUI reset done by the installer. XP, SP3, display/write support/fonts for middle-eastern/asian languages installed.
Sample view after fresh B4 install - http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/8701/d ... 143729.png

edit: oops, this should go to B4 thread... sorry, late night etc ;]

Upon Ctrl-T it changes to days:hours:minutes format without problem, next Ctrl-T causes it go back to messed thing. Any date field displays mess in place of year-month-day part (groups list within the 'last updated' field as well).

On the Wish List tab, the Download to Folder option does not seem to be hooked up. Instead I need to Assign New Path then Add to Download List. Not a major problem, but I use it every day.

On the Wish List tab, the Download to Folder option does not seem to be hooked up. Instead I need to Assign New Path then Add to Download List. Not a major problem, but I use it every day.

I'll check it out. Thanks.

If you mean that the tab labels are moved from top to bottom (or vice versa) there is an option to select your preferred setting under the View menu. This was introduced a few beta releases ago.

Yes, I've been keeping up. I used the option on the View menu to move them back. I was just surprised that the installer changed the setting on me during the upgrade. I did not choose the option to reset the interface.

Thanks.
