Version 6.62 Release Candidate 1 Available...

Postby dexter » Fri Nov 06, 2015 2:45 pm

We think we've got things ironed out pretty well and are entering Release Candidate Status.

Changes:

  • No longer shows extra NZB filename info if "Show Filenames" is enabled
  • More tweaks to properly combine sample and subs files. Some posters changed their pattern.
  • Minor wording changes for consistency.

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

The speed limiter is still not working for me in this version...

With speed limiter activated to 170 Mb/s:

The downloadspeed is limited to 30 or 40 Mb/s instead of 170 Mb/s (or a bit more):

Without limiter max downloadspeed as it should be:

Anything I can do or...?

How many connections are you using to the news server? A natural way to reduce the speed is to simply reduce your connections.

Having a bunch of connections and running a speed limiter is like driving with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake.

But that's a workaround... it has always worked and since the last few releases it doesn't. So something has changed... and it's not on my side.
I'm using Astraweb with only 6 connections. Always nice, those workarounds, but it doesn't solve the issue.

Is this header downloads? Header downloads are compressed so they always read faster than the speed of your internet connection.

Dex thinks I should only show the raw speed and not the compressed speed. Maybe he's right? I haven't touched the speed limiter lately. Making it work at high speeds has always been problematic.

RC1 still has the off-by-1-hour "Last Updated" time-stamps issue that I mentioned in the B4 thread. Nothing really breaks because of it, so nothing urgent about this.

Hi.

Had a RAR with embedded EXE. Spam filter for embedded EXE is enabled so it went to failed files. I wanted to check out the download so I right clicked on it and said to add to download list & bypass filters. This didn't bypass filters - it still failed for the same reason. Disabling the filter & then telling it to bypass then worked.

Thanks.
