Massive logfile.txt

Postby Stuart264 » Thu Apr 02, 2015 8:14 am

Quade I keep finding with B8 that its generating quite massive logfile.txt (recent examples are 1.6 and 3.4 gigabytes) that I have to go in manually and delete. Should it be doing this?

How much logging to you have turned on?

You can disable "Show server commands" for example and it'll probably grow at a much slower rate. I do have an action item to limit log file sizes the "Linux" way which is let them grow to a size, close, rename and open a new one.

I added log trimming today. It'll allow it to grow to 10 megs, then rename it to "LogFile.txt.old" and start a new one. So the logs will never use more than 20 megs of disk space. I changed how it flushes data too so, it writes less often.

Quade, firstly thanks for the quick fix and secondly "show server commands" was not enabled.
