getting GROWL to work with newsbin

hi guys love the software so far, i have a quick question relating to newsbins growl notofications many months a go i did have this set up and working with boxcar on my iphone (using growl for windows by memory) mpw for the life of me i cannot get it working to send notifications to my android phone, i have notify my android set up in growl with my API key and everything but i cannot get news bin to register/hand shake with growl.

do i enter my local ip for my pc

or

an ip obtained from http://www.whatismyip.com???


i'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out where i have gone wrong. i have also tried disabling all firewalls/av's/spyware software and still cannot get it working, many thanks guys and keep up the awesome work

Not really clear on your setup, but assuming you have a windows growl application running on the same PC as newsbin, if you leave the address as 'localhost' does it handshake all right? At least that will show Newsbin talks fine with it and you know it's related to firewalls or dns resolving. Alternately if it's on another computer on a local network, try that too before getting into the outside world.

I'm not sure that it's as simple as finding your actual IP in the outside world, since it needs to go through your ISP after that and I'm not sure that's unfiltered.
