Internet Search - keyword search bug

For the Internet Search in 6.50b7, searches like this fail:

(Ass 13 720p s04) OR (Tits 720p s02) (Edited by Quade)

Either half works fine by itself, but grouping them with the OR causes it to fail. Obviously, this is not what should be happening.

Internet Search doesn't handle that type of grouping. It'll do Keyword1 OR keyword2 but not (word1 word2) OR (word3 word4). The capabilities are discussed on the Internet Search Help Page.

If it is a widely desired capability, I can look into supporting it.

In that case, I would definitely request it. It makes little sense to support boolean searches without grouping, as you're giving up more than half the power and flexibility.

You are actually in the minority believe it or not. I kick out failed search terms and monitor them for tweaking the system. Failures due to attempting to use complex boolean expressions is rare. No failures had an OR in it at all yesterday. The other failures are from people copy and pasting content that doesn't match, typographical errors in keywords, or simply listing keywords that returns no matches.

I have wanted to provide better parsing capabilities regardless and it's on my list of things to do. No ETA though.

I suppose it's possible that you're not seeing the failures because people already know that NB doesn't support it. But I can believe that most people use simpler queries.

I would think that supporting grouping in a boolean search field is library code that can be copy/pasted, though. I was shocked to find out that this type of search didn't work.
