Only just noticed this so it may not be specifically related to RC3 however I'm getting this in the log

[11:37:05] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:37:16] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:37:27] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:37:39] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:37:50] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:38:01] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7
[11:38:12] HIGH - Bad XML Line:1Column: 7

That's with the app just sitting there, not doing anything.

Where do you have your NZB Autoload folder pointed to? This may be from the periodic scans of that folder (or its sub-folders).

That's a common occurance if you set your autoload folder to your download folder. Not recommended.

Do you mean the downloads folder of my user file of my c: drive or my designated Newsbin output folder? as in my setup they are not one and the same thing. The autoload was directed to the former, however I just switched it to the desktop and that logging stopped.

Really, the autoload folder should be a dedicated folder that's only used for NZB's. Otherwise it costs you CPU and disk thrashing.

Yeah, desktop is a bad idea too. What Quade said...

To clarify, we're talking about the autoload nzb folder.

Well I think I've worked out what causing this behaviour (if not why) and it's rather odd. It was related to a font zip file which was for some unfathomable reason unpacking a txt file into the Loaded folder by itself. The zip is entirely clean, so I'm not sure how or why this is happening. Remove the zip from the autoload folder and the behaviour stops.

In order to test this further I then created a completely separate folder for the Autoload on a different partition and the result is the same: a txt file magically appears and the logging starts again.

Curious. . .

Many NZB sites deliver NZB's in zips so, Newsbin looks inside ZIP files for NZB's.

Newsbin is doing its job. It processes zip files looking for .nzb files. Like Quade said, the intention of the nzb autoload folder is a place where *only* nzb files you wish to be processed are going to land.

nb610-install.exe is the Internet based installer that just delivers the latest 610 release, including languages. If you run it, you'll get RC3. If you run the same program when the final version is available, it'll give you the final version.

I see how it could be confusing, I can change the name of the file if it makes people feel better.

I think its becasue the alternate link is available you expect the same thing from both. IIRC RC2 had the same filename at both options. It may just need mention of the downloader for the primary link on the download page.

Also

Just noticed in the installed programs list (Win 7-64) 3 entries for Newsbin Pro. 2 for version 6.00, and 1 for 6.10.

Would I be correct in that there should only be one entry? I have always used the upgrade option when installing new releases.

Also

During upgrades to new revisions I get the options for Menu entry , desktop icon and nzb association. Could it be automated to use the previous settings? Every time I have to un-check desktop icon, or delete the icon after installation. The others don't matter as they just overwrite the existing

I'll change the filename to avoid further confusion.

Damn. Yeah, should be overwriting previous versions. I'll look into it.

It could, just a matter of writing code to remember previous settings. I'll look into it next time I'm in that section of code.

I still have an entry for version 5.59 and an an entry for 6.10, none for 6.00 though. Shouldn't the 5.59 entry had disappeared when upgrading.

Yeah, it should have. It's an oversight on my part. I remove old shortcuts but it wasn't removing old entries in the control panel. I'll try to get a fix into the 6.10 installer to do better cleanup.

Points to a corrupted downloads.db3 file. Might want to close Newsbin and delete it. If your system got turned off while Newsbin was running, this can happen.

When pausing items in the download list , you can select an un-expanded item and all is paused including the items only visible when expanded.

When un-pausing it's a different matter, only the selected item is un-paused, and all the un-expanded items are left in a paused state.

I would have expected them to automatically un-pause too

There's 2 tiers of pause (well 3 if you include global pause).

1 - Pause the whole compacted set. That's basically pausing the parent.

2 - Pausing the individual files in the set.

They're independent of each other and intended to be independent. So, you can pause the entire set with a single click or pause individual files. Autopar will pause and unpause individual files as it see's fit in order to repair and unrar. If select the parent and the files and hit the pause button. You'll have 2 things to unpause.

If you select a group with Filters enabled and then select Show All Files. It will display all files regardless of the Filter being enabled. When you hover the mouse over the Filter box it will then switch to "Filter Profile" and you have to reselect the Filter you want to use again. Very minor, just thought I'd post this in case it wasn't known behavior.

Did you assign the profile to the group (I mean in group properties) ? I suspect profile resets to whatever the group is set for with each load. I've specifically seen it use size filters on reload if they're set.

Not 100% sure of this, but It seems that that the Servers "Download" counter, may not be returning the correct figure. I have re-set and will monitor over the next few days .

A feature that may prove beneficial alongside the 'reset' of the counter would be to show the date when last re-set

Additionally Items marked as old, seem to randomly re-appear. These are items that have been downloaded or not. Some over a week old, and were thought complete.
Display is set to Hide Old. Most noticable after a restart, but also sometimes when headers are updated. All seemed OK on RC 2

Noticed, when downloading an item that was flagged as a dupe, used bypass filters to download it , that the progress bar didnt work/move on the download list at all, even though it did download and unrar successfully.

Also I have grid lines on turned on in the download list and can't seem to find where to turn them off.
