nb682 and still frustrated

Postby Stan » Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:12 am

I started with the default cache chunk size (400) and went up. even higher than 2000 and it still seems to slow down downloading
I have it set to my SSD drive with 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write.
what might I still be missing in my setup?
Ant help I would be thankful
BTW I also did try to fool with the MemCacheLimit but don't seem to really do much of anyhting

I'd just leave it at 400.

The old advice about increasing it has been superseded with a new design. One of our IRC users is getting well over 1 Gbps downloads to his server. A combination of Eweka and Usenetserver I believe.

If you're having download speed problem, I'd probably look to your servers first. Most servers are slower to feed old content than new content for example. If you're downloading 3000 day old files, it's going to be slower than contemporary files.

I never thought about it being if older than 3000 days.
with having it 400 I watched and for some reason it does seem to go to either 0/400 or 1/400 and that when it seems to slow down the download.
So I guess I ruled out most other things cause in the past I even thought anti-virus and now just use Windows 10 defender.
It was also the main reason I did go to an SSD cause I really had an issue using a HardDrive.
When it does start out I too can reach up to almost a gig speed so I also did not think news server or internet could be an issue.
Maybe I will, just for the heck of it, look for something within 300 days.
