Problem with headers downloads

Hi...

I recently lost all of my old groups from Newsbin - some sort of glitch in my system where it refused to read my previous .Nbi files

Anyway, I re-established my groups list and downloaded "all headers" for my groups. After several hours this completed and (after a few more hours) the import folder is empty.

The problem is that most posts are not showing up in Newsbin.

For example, when I download all headers for a.b.e-book.fantasy, Newsbin reported 2,358,722 headers. When the group is downloaded (all headers) and opened, there are only 10,0083 entries.

Similarly, a.b.e-book.flood reported xxxx/6,885,936 headers (Astraweb) and the final count 13,199 entries. (I repeated the all headers download, and finished with 72,496 entries)

The AppData\Local\Newsbin\spool_v6 directory shows huge Storage.db3 files (up to 1.45GB) yet only 22,270 entries (for a.b.e-book group)

I'm using Newsbin Pro 6.73 - Build: 4821
News servers: Astraweb and Blocknews

It looks like the databases are playing up.

Any suggestions?

(At this stage I'm on the point of deleting all groups, removing and re-installing Newsbin and then re-building all my groups again...)

Please ignore my post...

I have deleted my Newsbin installation and installed the latest version.

I am now in the process of re-building my groups and re-downloading my headers.

All appears to be OK so far...

(My old setup was a few years old anyway and needed a clean-up...)

Keep in mind that header counts doesn't equal file counts. Depending on the group, there might be as many as 200 headers per file. Typically book groups are lower than that.

So, you shouldn't expect a 1:1 correspondence between headers and files.

Fully aware of that Quade...

I was actually referring to the post (headers) count rather than the number of files... My apologies for the misleading...

Also, I was looking at a "Display Age" listing rather than "Show All Files" listing.

Anyway, it's taken me 3 days to re-build all my groups (Download ALL headers) and all is again good.
