I have just reinstalled Newsbin 6.72 on a new system, and I cannot download the complete list of newsgroups from my news-server (Giganews). I am sure my username and password are correct and the address is entered correctly – news.giganews.com; I have 8 connections; I do not have the use SSL box checked; and I am using TCP Port 119.
The download appears to start, but only up to a limit of 50,000 files. Then when I go to enter a group the program says the file containing the group list is missing.
Your help would be appreciated.

Did you change any of the default options when you installed? It sounds like Newsbin can't write to the data folder.

As for the "50,000" think. Since it doesn't know how many groups the server will return it cycles to 50,000 then resets and cycles again so this is normal. Keep in mind that only 2000 groups have any meaningful content.
