I am having the same issue with random RAR files files left over after successful unRAR as the posters here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=40252
I added the DL directory as an exclusion in the Antivirus but it didn't help.

using v6.71 now.

I think that I have figured out why this is happening;

If I download a regular grouped post, there does not appear to be an issue with leftover RARS; the first PAR2 file, fileName.PAR2, is downloaded followed by the RARS and possible larger PAR2 files as needed for repair. The unraring starts as soon as all RARS are available, and when done, all RARS are deleted.

With a non-grouped post, the RARS and PARS may not be in any particular order (because they are listed by posting date/time). In this case, many non-needed PARS may be downloaded before all the RARS have been been downloaded. The repair & unraring then starts using the existing PARS before the last RARS have completely downloaded.

When the unrar is complete, only the RARS used in the unraring are deleted, leaving the last downloaded ones on the disk.

This may happen with or without "aggressive assembly mode" enabled..

Any way to "Fix' this?

If it was happening to me, the way I'd fix it is to fix the grouping.

Since it's happening to you, You might want to feed the pars after the RARs, You could pause, add, then move all the pars to the bottom.

It is a lot of work to fix the grouping manually for several hundred sets.
I would be much better if Newsbin could group them as is done for so many other sets.

I am still trying to figure out why some sets are grouped in Newsbin and others are not.
What are the "grouping rules" that Newsbin uses to group posts?

They're too complicated to try to explain. It supports grouping of many different formats. Usenet is fairly random though so there are always new groupings to add in.

How often do you add new grouping rules?
Would it help you to point out a few newsgroups where are are a lot of ungrouped posts?

Sure you can list the groups.

Nothing can change till the next beta cycle starts though.
