Stopping a file download?

Long time registered user using 6.62.
I'm currently on a data cap host so I have to watch how much I download. Recently I started a large file download and soon realized I'd picked the wrong nzb. (movie was in German which I don't understand) Once I realized this, I tried to stop the download. Tried everything I could think of to no avail. Finally just had to let it download. Wasted 8 gigs of data.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Normally I just select it in the download list and hit the delete key.

What did you try?

Everything but that! I couldn't figure out how to 'open' the list. Wouldn't open when I clicked on it. Finally changed it's properties to 'auto-hide' and now when I mouseover, it opens. I'm assuming this is where I would delete?
Thanks for the quick reply.

In the options menu you might want to select "Reset Display Layout on restart" then restart to get the default layout.

Then you can move things around the way you like.
