Hi,

lately, I've been getting this error periodically when retrieving headers
[08:52:09] ERROR Server:Supernews NNTPServer: Gzip decompression- Failed to decompress

is this a client error, computer issue, or an error with my provider?

i hope this isn't a duplicate post.. i searched "failed to decompress" and nothing came up..

I'd be willing to bet it's a security software issue to be honest. What security package to you use?

Normally header downloads are just text and V scanners don't mess with them. On the other hand compressed header downloads are binary and probably look like something worth scanning to security software.

Another thing you could do is disable "XFeatures" in the server advanced options. That turns off compression.

I use Kaspersky Internet Suite. So, maybe I can try adding the newsbin app as a trusted app if I haven't already.. worst case scenario turn off compression..

thank you!

I had a report just a day or two ago that a recent Kaspersky update broke downloading.

What you really want to to is to prevent it from intercepting connections between Newsbin and your news server. I'm not clear if "trusted app" status does that.
