Tell Newsbin to use a server for headers only, not files?

Postby newsbasket » Fri Jun 17, 2016 1:29 pm

I'm considering setting Newsbin Pro to use one server for binary files and not headers (by checking the "no header download" box), and another server for headers (compressed headers!) and not files. Is it possible to do this in Newsbin 6.7? I know I can give one server priority, but that's not quite the same.

Thanks

Priority is how I'd do it. Set one server to "No Header Download" and the other to say priority 5. The only time the header server would get used is if the binary server was missing chunks of the file.

In the server options, in the advanced options there's a function called "Typical Retention" I'd try setting that to zero or one. Normally if a file is older than "Typical Retention" the server will never be used to download parts of the file. I'm not absolutely certain 0 will work. If it doesn't, I could probably change it to make it work. Or maybe add a "never use for files" option.
