Version 6 NZB import delay

Currently using 6.62 4358. Issue is that when I open an NZB from my browser, or by directly importing using Newsbin, there is a long delay. The delay can be anywhere from 1-5 minutes and size of the NZB doesn't seem to affect it. Any idea what could be happening here?

How big is the NZB?

What kind of disk is the "Data Folder" on?

I just did a test with a 2 kb NZB and it took about two minutes to start for Newsbin to find it. After that one loaded, I tried a 6.4 mb NZB and it loaded within a few seconds. Then I tried a 1 mb file and it took another two minutes, so I tried an 800 kb file and they both started within a second of that one. Very erratic and hard to pin down. This behavior started about three months ago and I updated to 6.62 (from an early v6, I believe) to try and resolve the issue.

My data folder is on my system drive and the drive is Seagate 3 gb SATA drive with approximately 36 gb free. My download folder is on a different drive.

The process of reading an NZB is:

1 - Read it

2 - Parse the files out of it

3 - Write it to a DB3 named for the NZB in the data folder

4 - Read it the same way Newsbin would read a search or header database.

I assumed you were loading some monster DB's but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Just as a test, I loaded a 7.5 meg NZB into the post list (with the "Load NZB button") and it took under 2 seconds to show up.

How about trying to load these NZB's with the "Load NZB" button in Newsbin (first one on the tollbar) and see if it's still slow? I'm not suggesting that as a fix. Just as a test.

There doesn't appear to be any difference in the delay when I use Load NZB, unfortunately.
