Unraring always kills my cache on large files

I'm puzzled why unraring large files (10gig) always hogs up the cache and ends up stopping the downloads until the unrar is finished. I have my cache set to 1,000. I download to one drive and unrar the downloaded file to a different drive. The system is not old, i7-4790, 16gb of ram, Win 10 x64. My Newsbin (6.62) averages around 930meg of memory.

Since you're not using 6.70, the simple answer is Newsbin 6.62 stops writing chunks to disk while unrar and repair happens. The longer the unrar and repair run, the more likely you are to run out of cache blocks.

Because people didn't like this behavior, in 6.70 I've re-enabled writing the chunks to disk during unrar and repair. It's not currently optional but it will be before 6.70 is released.
