Problem downloading headers and chunks from Group

I recently added a new group
I click on the name of the group and I have been waiting since Sunday and headers
never show up. I went to the data folder for that group and all the little .db folders are
showing minimum kb. I know from looking at the get groups screen that there
are 1.8 mil. file. headers.
I checked in the Downloading files section and it shows the line XXX newsgroup Datafolder\spool
but 0/0 files and nothing downloaded a and the bar graph never shows files being loaded
Edit to add I checked and made sure that I had enough byte count from my service provider. I have a block account and it shows I have 140gb left.
So what do I need to look for and make it work right

What's your "Storage Age" set to?
Did you actually see them download?
What happens if you right click and "Show all Posts"?
1.8 million is a tiny group.

D/L age is 2720
Display age is 2720
Storage age is 5000
You ask did I ever see them download?
No nothing download that is what i am
saying it is like stuck. It will not download anything
I right click show all post it shows Zip, Zilch, nothing, Na
I just hit the check for updates on all the groups
I go to the download files screen nothing is happening
It is showing a black button with + sign. A blue check mark beside the description of all the groups
but it is not update headers and it is not downloading new headers. Reminds me of a gate. or a switch that needs to be turned on or off

Sounds to me like there's something wrong with your news server of that Newsbin is being blocked off the internet by your security software.
Do you see any errors in the logging tab?

Well there you go. I'd guess that either you have the wrong address set for the server or that you security software is blocking Newsbin off the internet.
ssl.astraweb.com for SSL
news.astraweb.com for regular connections.
I'd check your addresses and tell your security software to leave Newsbin alone.
"Bogus Max Spool" -> Right click the group "Post Storage/Use Download Age" to reset the record numbers for that group. It sounds like Cubenet renumbered their groups.

okay astraweb keeps going screwy on me
if you go to there homepage they have the following ssl servers address listed as
ssl.astraweb.com
ssl.us-astraweb.com
ssl.eu-astraweb.com
both available on port 443,563
I have had to switch twice now within the last 1.2years
between ssl.astraweb.com and ssl.us-astraweb.com
today I chose ssl.astraweb.com but changed port to 443 it is working now
astraweb can be so screwy

I use AW and haven't had to change anything in years so that's pretty odd.

Yeah. Security software sucks. It'll actively thwart your downloading. That's why I normally suggest making it completely ignore Newsbin and just look at the downloaded files after the fact.
