Newsbin stops downloading when focus changes

When I start downloading something the network speed indicator shows it's downloading. I keep Newsbin up on one of my monitors and shift focus from that to say a web browser. When I shift focus by clicking on the web browser or something else with my mouse Newsbin stops downloading and the speed slowly slows down to zero. When I click back on Newsbin it speeds back up again resuming the regular high rate of speed. I went through all of the options and couldn't find anything that would cause this. I also went into my processes and gave it a higher priority which didn't work. What am I missing? Thoughts?

What kind of machine are we talking about? I was trying to reproduce this this morning. I started a download, watched it hit full speed (120ish Mbps) then minimized Newsbin and focused on something else. Watching in task manager I saw no change in the download speed.

That should be plenty of computer.

What kind of security software do you use? I've gotten a couple reports in the past like this but never found a solutions. I can say it seems really rare.

Default Windows stuff...defender, firewall, etc. Everything works fine as long as I open Newsbin and don't stray. I have three monitors. So when I click away from Newsbin I can still watch the meter at the bottom and it just dwindles down to zero. As soon as I click back on the Newsbin window it takes off again. Super odd.

I'd watch task manager instead. See if it shows you ethernet speeds(it does in 8 and 10). I wonder if it's just the display that stalls out but not the actual download?

Okay, so new interesting development. I had task manager up watching it. I moved Newsbin from one of my side monitors to my main monitor and it doesn't stop there. If I move it back to one of my side monitors it slows down when not in focus and stops. It behaves differently on my main monitor than it does on one of the side monitors. What the..... lol.

Ok I tried that. I have two monitors both plugged into the same video card. Tossed a couple gigs worth of downloads into the download list then moved the window to my second monitor. Speed didn't change a bit with or without focus.

Are you running this under a virtual machine or something?

Not on a VM. It's still doing it though. It's like if I take focus off of Newsbin the process goes to sleep or something. Super odd.

Bingo! Figured it out. Asus motherboard software comes with something called Network iControl. It prioritizes traffic. It was set to 'auto'. I changed it to 'off' and bam. Super speedy out of focus again. Thanks for your help.
