Duplicate Detection file has already been downloaded NOT

Postby bigbillsd » Tue Dec 08, 2015 12:23 pm

Im running v6.62 and now I am occationally seeing my downloads go into the Failed Files tab due to the "Duplicate" setting. They are not duplicates so I go in and use the download - bypass filters option. Its not happening ever day, maybe once or twice a week. Not sure if the new build has a bug that it hits occasionally or if there is something in the downloads making it look like a dupe file. Its not a big deal. I just now need to remember to check the failed files tab to make sure I received everything I was trying to download the night before.

PS. this morning I didn't notice it before i shutdown newsbinpro and when I started it back up the logs were purged. Are the old logs stored somewhere?

Thanks, Bill

It doesn't take much to be marked as duplicate. It only checks the first 23K of the file. The duplicate detector dates back to when usenet was only pictures. For large files it's only marginally useful. You might want to simply disable it. In the advanced options.

Hi, just to mention that I'm experiencing the same since I migrated to 6.62.
I get a lot more false positive duplicate rejects than before.
There must a regression somewhere here.
Nevertheless I don't need that much this feature and will disable it as bigbillsd did, thanks for the tip ;-)
