Files with extensions like MYFILE.wmv.001 problem

For some reason when I download a file that is broken into parts using the .001, .002 etc, method, the .001 file gets associated to another program other than my joining program (hjsplit). I have looked at the file associations on my Windows 10 PC and everything looks OK. If a file is downloaded in the format of MYFILE.WMV.001, MYFILE.WMV.002, etc. The .001 file becomes just a .wmv rather than the .001 that it should be. This forces me to rename the file back to .001 before the files can be joined properly. Any ideas?

Are you downloading the PAR files too? Files like that need PAR files for Newsbin to assemble them properly. PAR files and AutoPAR repair needs to be enabled.

Just for grins you might try this one and see how it acts.

If you add both at the same time. Newsbin can manage the PAR files automatically.
