problem viewing and sorting

Postby dwmcaleer » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:27 pm

Just updated to Newsbin 6.62. Running Win 7. for some reason, since the upgrade I have problems getting downloads to view, and often, if they view, I can't get them to sort. Sometimes I close the view tab, go back to groups list tab, and click "Show Files" and they will show, but still not sort. I'm not at all an expert, but I've used Newsbin since V.4x, and I've never had this issue before.

I think if you wait longer it'll start sorting. I've seen this once or twice so it is on my radar. Oddly it only seems to impact some groups.

I am having the same trouble with sorting taking a very long time on one particular group which is mainly pdf files: alt.binaries.e-book.magazines
which takes more than 1 minute on 600-700 posts. There is no indication when viewing the listed files that sorting is taking place until it actually does it. I am sorting on the Subject field only.
The same group in version 6.56 sorts instantly on more than 4000 posts
All other groups I use, mainly mp3 or jpg files sort instantly.
First noticed this happening in version 6.60

Show files is not an issue.
