When d/l'g certain binary files, segments of it show up in red and I see multiple error messages
like this in my log:

[22:41:12] HIGH DecodeYenc - YEnc Data format error:

I am using v 6.60b7 from a clean installation. I am using 3 news servers, with one downloading
the headers and the others acting as fill servers.

It means the data coming off your news server isn't following the proper yEnc specifications. It could be how it was posted, the server or something else.

If you want to PM me the subject and group of one of these files I could look at it. Don't post it here.

You could try disabling each server in turn and see if this only happens from one server. Turning red probably means one of the servers is returning 430 errors meaning it's saying it doesn't have that block of data.

Thanks for your quick response.

I suspected that that's what the error meant, but I just wanted to be sure.
As far as the file goes, it's a few years old and isn't all that important. I can
easily get by without it.

I did disable each server as you suggested, but the results were the same.

Thanks again for your help.

Newsbin will try to use the data anyway. Sometimes just the trailer is missing which Newsbin can just ride through. If the files fail to download and you get this message it means they're really messed up.

Sometimes it might be your V scanner or firewall messing with the data too. That's why it's kind of hard to always know where the problems is.
