Latest version problem

When I download a set with many small files (ie. a collection of image sets) the UnRAR process is hanging for some reason, Newsbin becomes unresponsive and the HD thrashes despite profiler telling me that not many writes are happening per second. Just now it was sitting on UnRAR: 100% for some minutes before I terminated it.

Very strange - these sets manually UnRAR without problems.

Someone else reported this. I suspect it has to do with rendering the thumbnails for all the images. Might be interesting to do one of these and pop open the thumbnail window and see if it's rendering these JPG's.

Do you mean by Windows? I have thumbnail storage disabled on my machine by default. Even then I thought it only bothered rendering them if you opened the folder and browsed it in a large icon/tile display.

Newsbin has a tab that renders thumbnails during download. Look in the view menu.

Ah I didn't know that. I assume I can disable it, I'll take a look.

Having this tab hidden or closed doesn't disable the "feature". There appears no way to disable it despite it having a very detrimental affect on system.
