6.54 Interface unusable during header import

I just went from 6.53 to 6.54 3326

During header import the interface is so painfully slow as to be unusable.
Everything returns to normal once the import is complete.
Could it be the recent header import priority bump?

What kind of drive is the data folder on?

How fast is your PC?

I see a slight drag when it's importing but, not enough to impact usability. My machine is pretty beefy though.

I'm using an old IBM T42 Laptop. 1.6Mhz Pentium M.
CPU usage is around 4% with Newsbin idle. Runs at 100% when importing headers.
The data drive is on the internal hard disk.

Got to say, I'm not shocked then. Your laptop is probably processing gigs of data. Might be the data compression that crushing performance. Newsbin compresses everything.

Are you hitting large groups?

Not the mega large groups but at least one fairly large group. I only keep about 30 days worth of headers and my spool_v6 is about 5GB.

It takes about 20 minutes for a full header update to finish the import. It is just that in none of the previous versions did, or maybe I didn't notice, the interface becoming non-responsive. I'll probably do it again with 6.54 tomorrow, then go back to 6.53 the next day just as a test.

It could be what you think. That the higher priority is doing it.
