Wrong File Size displayed in the “Downloading Files” Tab

Hi, while downloading RAR files the size displayed does not correspond to the real size.
For example, it temporarily says 1.1 MB/ 2.0 MB (including a list of RAR files with e.g. 60 kB each) while the properties window shows the list of RAR files with e.g. 50 MB each.
I never experienced this behaviour in the former Newsbin Pro versions before. Is this perhaps a misunderstanding on my part?

regards

I was just coming here to look for a solution to that too. wasnt sure if it was my news provider or newsbin doing it. (frugalnews btw) Its really annoying in the group list if you have a filter set for filesize cause it'll hide them all.

As I understand it, this might be a case where the size reported in the header does not correspond to the actual file size that happens when the file is actually downloaded. Not common, but definitely not unknown.

If you're using headers, I have seen cases where the news server delivers bad data in the headers.

If you want to PM me some examples, I can look on my servers.

Hi guys,
thank you very much for your response.
In a specific example Newsbin says about 85 kilobytes for each “rar” file while the size of the actually downloaded files in the windows Explorer is about 25 Megabytes each.
Do you know if the Newsbin software takes the size information from the Newsgroup provider (Ngroups.NET)? Maybe he is the “problem”.
Regards

Are you using headers, search or NZB Files?

If you're downloading from headers, the size comes from your news server.
