Mouse goes out of control - keeps selecting - unselecting

6.53 build 3311, 64 bit

Suddenly something happens just in one pane (if it is the correct term: search pane, download list pane)
Just moving the mouse over the area of that pane cause the lines in it to be selected / deselected. Even if that pane itself is not selected.
It now happened twice: first with the search pane, and now with the download list. I was forced to exit NewsBin and start it again to get rid of that behavior with the search pane.

Now I have it again with the download list. So, the "Groups" pane is selected above, or the headers of a specific group. Or Search - it doesn't matter. The mouse is working fine in any tab in the upper part.
But when I move it lower to the download list - it begins selecting / deselecting without clicking on any buttons - while the Groups tab above remains selected! This bad behavior is only in the download list, not in other tabs that are located in the same area: failed files, logging, etc. - they are OK.

The problem is not restricted to the lower area of the NewsBin window either, when it occurred for the first time, it occurred in the Search tab above, and the download list below was working fine.

So something happens with one pane/tab only at a time. I don't think I was doing something special to cause that.

Never encountered similar problems before with older NewsBin versions.

BTW, closing and re-opening of the download list does not help - it opens still in that weird state - some flag remains set, perhaps?

Nothing in Newsbin remembers that between runs. I've seen several reports of this and the answer is that I have no idea what's going on. That part of Newsbin hasn't changed in easily 1 year or 2.

Quick google search shows some people with similar issues. Not in current windows though. Mostly XP or 7. There was no single solution. One guy pulled the batteries on his mouse and claimed that fixed it. Might be a good experiment if you use a wireless mouse.

No, it is a wired usb mouse. I tried to disconnect and re-connect it. Yes, there is a difference:
Now the text is scrolling in the download list when I am moving the mouse over it (at the lower / upper edges of the list) - instead of selecting / deselecting. I think it is the normal behavior in some applications.
But the tab above remains selected and the mouse wheel scrolls in the above part of the NewsBin window even when the mouse is over the download list and simultaneously scrolls the download list.
And the scrolling does not work that way in other NewsBin tabs/panes.

The thing is, it is working correctly with all the other applications and with all the other NewsBin panes / tabs.
So if there is a flag for that download list area, it seems to be outside NewsBin.

I am using Windows 8 / 64 bit.

Looks like selecting a single item and double-clicking it might clear it. Your problem sounds a bit different than theirs.

Thanks, I should have searched for a similar topic more seriously.
I added the summary of my experiences there.

As to the double click - I did not try it,, although I managed to get a single selected item. I will try double clicking if it happens again.

I have some news - I will write about it in the other thread
