I'm having a problem with NewsBin 6 consuming 90-98% of my processor cycles - even when it is not performing any tasks. Hopefully there is a remedy you can suggest. (Toshiba laptop; WindowsXP;1.7GHz Intel; 1GB RAM)

Single core?

Look down at the status bar where it says "Cache" do you see a number in parens? "(XXX)". That number represents the number of block of headers it's importing into the header database. If you just downloaded a bunch of headers, Newsbin has to chunk through them to feed the header database.

What version are you using? Latest RC (6.53RC3) attempts to be kinder to your PC's.

Thanks, Quade. The cache is showing 200/200 (4). I'm waiting for a RAM upgrade to arrive, hopefully that will be the sol'n.

Is 6.53 already available? The registered upgrade link is still delivering 6.52, which is what I have now.

6.53 is better than 6.52. It's here in the forum.
