Under "Options/Setup" check your storage age. Also while you have "Options/Setup" open click "Open Data Folder" - Is your data folder where you expect it to be? Also check your computer's date/time.

storage age and download age is 5000 days. data folder and date/time are ok. have no filters and spamfilters activated.
maybe newsbin can't handle big databases with SSD's and win 8.1?

A group that only has 'millions' of headers is not particularly large - the largest groups are in the billions.

Do you have an .gz files in the relevant group folders? If so these indicate that there are headers not yet processed into the database. Also at the bottom of the Newsbin screen in the Status bar is there a value in brackets following the cache entries (e.g. something like) 100/100 (50) ) as a number in bracket indicates downloaded header files waiting to be processed into the database.

Exactly which release of Newsbin are you using?
