Poor computer performance when using Version 6.51B4

Upgraded to 6.51B4 and can't hardly use my computer when downloading. I have never had this problem before. I don't have the fastest computer but I should be able to surf the net while downloading I would think.

I have went into the performance section and checked low powered computer but didn't really seem to do anything.

Is there anything else I can do so the computer is more usable while Newsbin is downloading.

Thank you

Why install a beta release? The 6.51 final release is now available so you should be installing that release!

Normally Newsbin does not put that much load on the system, although it can hit the disks quite hard. You perhaps need to give a bit more information about your system, what security software you are using and things like that.

Agree with Itimpi.

What kind of PC is it?
What's your download speed?

Its the same PC I have used since all of version 5 with no problems. PC Specs below

Gigabyte Board
2.8GHz Intel Dual core processor
4 Gig Ram
2T harddrive
Windows 7 64 bit OS

I will install the final build as I did not realize this was a beta until you pointed it out. That might be the problem.

If I go here and click install I get version 6.5 -------------------------> http://www.newsbinpro.com/index.htm
If I go here and click install I get version 6.51B4 ---------------------> http://www.newsbin.com/freetrial.php When going here I click the for registered users 64bit.

Which website is legit.

They both are. What's the version number? I believe 3162 is the current build number.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with your PC. Seems like it should be plenty powerful enough.

If you let Newsbin use all of your download bandwidth, there won't be any left for things like email and browsing. I'd try running Newsbin with only 2-4 connections to the news server and see what happens.

Quade, The version it installed was 6.51B4 3146.

I am assuming if it has the "B" in the number it is a Beta. Is that correct?

If so would you recommend the final build or beta.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how you're even getting a B version. You should be running the current release. The beta's are all problematic in one way or the other.
