If you just post back in the original topic, it'll bubble up as "new" not that I'm complaining just a method you can use. Then you won't have to link back. Sometimes I do just miss posts or I have to think about it and forget to get back to it.

You can currently only search on the subject field. You know, It's not really necessary to search to see if something is already in the download list. If in doubt just re-add it. A duplicate download addition won't add an additional download. It'll just update the existing download with the most current data. What I mean is re-adding a download doesn't result in actually re-adding it, if it already exists in the download list.

Hi Quade

Thanks for the hint and the reply. I believe this only works if it's the same nzb or the same header. but if you add a different header it won't detect it's a dupe.

thanks.

True, it's only true if they're exactly the same. I can consider making it match on the path field. Have to figure out how first.

might be easier to search the "download path" field/column in the DB

The DB is typically untouched when Newsbin is running other than adding and deleting things. I figure the less I touch it, the less chance it has of getting corrupted. I think that's going to change and I'll be dynamically loading the download list so, it doesn't use much memory anymore. If I go with dynamic loading, I'll probably have to search the DB. With the current design, it's all in RAM.

that's a good point. corrupting the DB is a disaster, even though I back it up every now and then :)

Would there be anyway to export to excel for example or to allow copy and paste of the grids!! I know lots of softwares that allows you to copy the cells you highlight and let you paste them elsewhere.

Well, you can cut and paste anything there. When you paste it, you get a comma delimited list. Select some lines and hit Ctrl-C to feed the clipboard. Then paste it into Wordpad or something.

You can't do individual fields. It's not really a grid control. It's an old fashioned list control.
