I just upgraded from 5.59 to 6.51b4 and I'm having some trouble with a few things:

* Some downloads don't complete correctly and the extensions of the files are suffixed with the extension nb2 which isn't recognized when i try to run quickpar.
* Newsbin is not tryng to use the pars and I can't retry the download. When i right click on the file set in the download list and say "Retry Download", nothing happens it just sits there.
* If I try to download it again, nothing happens. It just sits there.
* If i right click on the file set and select AutoPar/Run QuickPar, I get the message, "Unable to run program to process PAR's, We recommend and use QuickPar"... (NOTE: Quick Par is installed.

So right now I have about 7 items that won't download no matter what I try. I'm used to just

Can anyone give me some thoughts on differences in the versions and how I should be working differently with 6.5?
Thanks.

B4 has known crashy issues. I'd upgrade to 6.51RC2.

Are you downloading to a standard internal drive?

You have a number of weird symptoms. Like the quickpar thing not working. If you can double-click a PAR2 in Windows Explorer and Quickpar pops up, the same thing should work in Newsbin because it's uses the same mechanism. I think it sounds like something is preventing Newsbin from invoking quickpar. Like your security software.

Likewise, I think it sounds like something is interfering with how Newsbin downloads. The only time you'll see an NB2 file anymore in Newsbin is if something prevents the file from being renamed to the real filename. Basically Newsbin downloads into RAM, then generates an NB2 when the file is done, writes the data to the file, then renames the file. So, if you're seeing NB2's, that means the file completed and the rename failed.

I think you might want to tell your virus scanner to ignore the download folder and maybe scan it after the download completes.

Basically as long as you end up with NB2 files, Newsbin won't be able to repair and unrar the files.
