Rename watch doesn't work

Hi. This program works great. However, I've found I cannot rename watches, in order to organize them. I was able to do that for awhile, but can no longer. When I try to rename a watch, all the watch does is revert to its original name.

Also, it would be nice if you could start off a watch name with a number. Numbers are not permitted however. I was able to rename watches earlier beginning with a number, ie 02 Mondays xxxx, but renaming is impossible now.

It seems, moreover, that spaces within names are now being replaced with underscores. Before, that did not happen.

Thanks.

I'm not sure it really ever worked even if it seemed to. I'll have to check the code. There's a folder on disk that would have to be renamed to make it work.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. For some reason, the rename feature started to work again partially, in a rather unusual way. Almost all the watches that I had tried unsuccessfully to rename over the past week or so, suddenly showed up renamed--all but one. I don't know what caused this to occur. Maybe it occurred when I saved my config. I try to do that all the time when I change something, but sometimes I forget.

I checked the folders you mentioned. They were renamed as well.

Also, I was wondering if I could maybe suggest some changes to watches, as follows:

The ability to name watches prefixed with a number, ie. 01, 02, etc.--right now, numbers are not permitted.
A way to group watches, most likely into folders.
A way to assign individual file save paths to watches. This could be the unrar path.
Perhaps a way to schedule watches so that they can be made to turn on and off automatically depending on the date or day of the week.
Automatic renaming would be nice.

Maybe, as far as scheduling goes, how about creating a set of default folders named for the days of the week. Then, all you have to do is add a watch to a particular folder/day.

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. Renaming of what automatically? Why would I want to automatically rename this thing?

What I gather is that you have a crapload of watches for some reason. I don't want to know the specifics of what you're downloading but, I am interested in what you're doing. Your usage seems to be completely different than mine.

Hi. By automatic renaming, I mean automatically renaming a downloaded file, if possible, to match some standard naming format.

I set up a bunch of watches over the last couple of months. They grab different files as they become available on different days. I turn the watches off on all other days, to prevent the downloading of extraneous files with names that fall within the search/filter criteria--these would be duplicates or near duplicates of files already downloaded, or they'd be altered versions, such as foriegn language dubs or subs. I also set it up so that, I have main watches and sub watches of some files. I set up the main ones to bring in either 720p or 1080p files. Once I get a 720p file in, I turn that off and turn on a 1080p specific watch. This way I won't just get a number of other similar 720p files in, files that are more a less a duplicate of the first one. I'm shooting basically for 1080p files, but those always come in after the 720p files, sometimes a day or two later, and sometimes they don't come in at all. This way at least I'll get a 720p file in most cases.

I've just been experimenting, trying to set things up most effectively. I've been adding on the watches here and there, which has added to their number. Actually, I suppose I could just have one watch with a bunch of either, or segments to watch for all the files. I'd get duplicate files in that way, files largely identical except, perhaps, for a few bytes or a slight difference in naming, but it would easier to deal with. Then, all I'd have to contend with is moving and renaming.

Still, if a watch would be assigned its own path and given parameters for auto renaming an incoming file and also even a provision for scheduling, that would be nice. I don't know how many people would use such features, however.

Thanks.

You're actually working around limitations of the watch lists which, I intend to address in the next version. What's needed is a way to prevent the download of duplicate sets even if the formatting of the subject or the files themselves aren't exactly the same. Then you could make a single watch and the watch itself would prevent duplicate downloads.

A minimum size filter goes far to prevent downloading extraneous crap but, that's just a work around for now.

I have a good idea of how I want it to work. It's just too much of a change for 6.51.
