Automatic download with filters

I am trying to use automatic download on some groups in a group of groups. I have a filter that works perfectly when I open the GoG. The filter shows exactly what I have setup on the filter.

Then I check auto download and I get tons of posts added to the download list that I don't have on the filter.

I have simplified the filter down to just rejecting some file names, such as [.]exe but I still get hundreds of junk posts added on every header update. (including .exe)

I have tried running with just the global filter (reject some junk extensions) and I've also tried deleting the fiters.db3 file and starting over. The end result is the filter works perfectly when shown in the post list, but completely ignored on auto download--hundreds of junk posts downloaded.

I'm currently running 6.5 RC3. The problem also happened when I downgraded to 6.42.

After getting a display filter written and working perfectly, can't I just enable auto-download using that filter on the GoG?

I've searched and searched and tried everything that seems relevant, but if anyone has a suggestion--please share.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Did you assign the filter profile to the groups in the group options?

Hi Quade!

I had assigned the filter to the GoG but not to each group.

I went back and assigned to each group and the junk posts stopped coming down.

I thought I could just add the filter to the GoG, but that doesn't seem to be the case..right?

The GOG's only really apply when you're displaying posts. Down deep, at the level where the filtering and automatic download takes place, the GOG's don't really exist.

It's just software, I could make the GOG apply. I'll have to think about it though.

It just seemed to me like the filter should apply since you can check it at the GoG.
Anyway, I appreciate you responding.

The filters are working perfectly now that I applied it to each group in the GoG.

Great job!
