Incomplete files all the time

I have been trying to download <big> files (sizes between 19 and 24GB) from Astraweb.

Whereas BinsearchInfo, for example, says:

collection size: 21.5 GB, parts available: 58011 / 58011
- 9 par2 files
- 103 rar files

each of the 103 rar files downloaded by Newsbin is incomplete, also the 9 par2 files. Why so?

I formerly used Grabit, and this problem did not occur, or in just a very few cases.
FYI: I use Newsbin 6.42 build 2148; am I doing something wrong?

While downloading hit the + icon and watch the download. Do you see black or red blocks on the downloaded files? Red blocks indicate errors to download. If you look in the logging tab you might see "430" errors. The indicate the server is saying "I don't have part of the file". If you're getting 430's then your only hope is that you have enough PARS to fix the file.

I think this relates to the NB2 post you made. If you still see NB2 files, Newsbin hasn't assembled the file yet because it's still retrying the download or it doesn't think there are enough PARS to fix the files.

6.50 is actually more aggressive about assembly and repair.

thanks for your good response.

Yes, I do get the 430 error many times:

[22:19:08] HIGH - Failed to retrieve Article from Server:Newsbin_Server ARTICLE <rZTfKtACuW7XKXZ7xNYz@JBinUp.local>
| 430 No such article

I am really wonderung what Astra is offering.

I haven't downloaded from Astra for more than a year now. But at that time, 9 o f10 downloads were complete. Now it seems that so download at all is complete.
Do you think that Giganews is better?

Giganews probably wouldn't be my next choice. I might try one of the highwinds servers.

I use a cheap giga account and aw and get mostly everything. I don't download really big files though.
