how to get rid of "nb2" filename endings?

I recently installed v6.42; first time that I am using Newsbin.
What is new to me is that when I download rar-files, their ending is e.g. "part06.rar_yEnc.nb2". With the download tools I have uses so far, the file name was "part06.rar".
Having the extended ending now, I cannot use WinRAR to combine the files. Same is true for the "par" files, where QuickPAR does not work if the filename does not end with "par" but rather with "nb2".
What can I do to eliminate these additional endings?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Files with that ending have not been fully downloaded. They get renamed without the.nb2 ending when the download is completed.

NB2 means Newsbin hasn't assembled the files completely yet. Normally this happens because they're not complete. If you hit the + icon on the download you should see files still in "Downloading" state. If you right click these files and "Assemble Incompletes" that'll tell Newsbin to stop waiting for more data and to assemble the file.

I think your core problem is that Astra is telling newsbin "I don't have part of the file" and Newsbin doesn't think you have enough blocks to actually repair the files.
