Mystery un-logged errors...

Postby SnakeByte » Fri Oct 11, 2013 10:15 pm

Can anyone explain what these red exclamation marks mean? I see them quickly scroll by when Newsbin is preparing to download updated headers, but once downloading starts, I cannot find them when scrolling through the download queue, and nothing ends up in the Logging tab.

It looks like those errors may be causing Newsbin to skip the updating of some of the newsgroups, for instance I see in the group list above:
a2000.geluid.binaries

yet, no matching entry in the download queue below.

Bug. Just delete them.

I'm surprised you're seeing them in 6.42 though. I thought it was only a beta problem?

Just so I'm clear, the only time I see them is when Newsbin mass-populates "Downloading Files." Once that finishes and the downloading has started, if I scroll around, they're all gone - There's nothing to delete. The only way I could capture that they exist at all was to do a screen recording and then export the offending frame to JPG. This particular capture was mild compared to what I normally see race past my screen, but that may be due to the fact that I'm downloading additional headers ala Post Storage -> Download Age after making an adjustment there.

It does look like some of the newsgroups are not getting any content though, but since I have no idea if they have any content to begin with, I cannot say whether or not Newsbin is choking on certain groups or not.

Yes, I had to ditch the beta after it became unusable due to it not being able to keep up with the hourly updates.
