I had a problem with my computer last night. I tried closing NB and the aero ring went to never never land.
My only way out was to do a computer turn off instead of normal shutdown procedures. I got back into the
system and as usually the case when I cannot shut down NB improperly the download list comes up and starts downloading previous files. So I go into NB folder and deleted the download.db3 file.

This morning when I tried to go into NB it had a strange error which I didn't catch. So Now I have the shell
program but all my settings are gone. NO custom list No server info No settings just like I would start off from the
beginning. I went back and check the main folder and looks like all the required files are there just all the settings look like they have gone away.

What should my next course of action be :(

Options, load backup config on restart, then restart Newsbin.

What about task manager? I don't think you ever need to shut the PC down.

Thanks for quick reply. BTW I have been doing the computer thing the last 20 years. Task mgr would not work
and computer areo ring would not quit spinning I thought I had no choice but to do a turn off.

I finally got it to take after the third try. But the @#$% Windows 7 Administration Screen would not let me save it in
in the NB file folder. I guess I need to be in administrative mode to make changes,

Is a bad sign. It means your regular user doesn't have write permission to the data folder. That's just asking for problems. Are you sure you're saving it to the right place?
