NB 6.50 phoning home at each start?!

I tried NB 6.50B16 and I noticed that it phones home everytime I start it. Why does it do that? I have MOTD off. I blocked it in Windows firewall for now. Can you please explain? Thanks.

For registered users, it's just trying to check the date of the MOTD.
Blocking it is fine if it bugs you. It won't impact how Newsbin functions in any way. Normally Newsbin only shows the MOTD when it's changed so, it has to go see what the current MOTD date is.
Once you've registered your key, nothing will unregister you or disable Newsbin. Well, nothing from us that is. There are cases where registry cleaners have cleaned the key out of the registry and you need to re-submit the key.

I have MOTD off, so why would it want to check the MOTD date anyways? That's what bugs me.
