Im using Astraweb and Virgin Media news groups for my downloads (news.virginmedia.com) which doesnt require a username or password to download from the virgin newsgroups, but am noticing Newsbin giving me the following error and not downloading anything at all.....
'[18:19:35] ERROR NNTPSocket - NNTP Perform Auth - news.virginmedia.com -Server Password: Server asked for Username and Password but, They aren't set in the options'
Does anyone know how to fix this as the error seem to point to their being now username or password but you dont need either of these for virgin news groups!

You might get that error of you use too many connections too. How many connections does the server permit?

Im not sure i just left it at the default setting, which i think is 8.
EDIT: I tried lowering it to just 2 and i still get the error message, but only repeat twice (i guess for each connection) before i was getting the message repeat a loads of time.......8 i guess 1 for each connection!?

Wonder if virgin media changed their policy or you hit some download cap? Maybe someone else running virgin can chime in if they are having issues too.

The error is from the virgin media server. You could copy/paste the error message into a support request to virgin media and see what they say. Basically their server is asking for authentication.
Just for grins, you could try your virgin media email address as the username and your virgin email password as the password and see if that works. That's how most other ISP's that offer usenet access work.
