all come to a screaming halt

hi...i was mucking around in the settings,clicked help and registered/updated my key and all my downloading has come to a halt....i am using v6.40 and kept a copy of the key number....what have i done!!

Did you restart newsbin? It picks up where it leaves off.

yeah...restarted newsbin and my pc ....still nothing...all my connections are disconnected

Typically caused by a bad username/password to your usenet server. I'd run through your settings there and ensure they're correct. Unclear why all this would happen just based on your key change - newsbin doesn't set out to deliberately corrupt anything - at worse it just requires a newsbin restart. Anyway, I'd visit your server settings.
Oh, if this doesn't work disable any antivirus in case it's getting in the way. Tbh it sounds like more than one thing going on here.

You need to have the correct username and password. Seems like you're connecting to the server, but aren't allowed to login.

thanks for your help...i havent changed anything in server settings and am reluctant to do so for fear of really stuffing up

90% of the time when this happens it means your credit card expired and they couldn't re-bill you. You might need to contact the server people and check you billing status.
