v6.42 File resume

Due to a motherboard issue have upgraded to a new machine. The machine I believe was using v6.xx but can't be sure but it was also running Win XP. The new system is 64bit Win8 and something I noticed when trying to download NZBs.
When I try to download a file, if it doesn't exist everything works fine.
If there is an issue and somehow newsbin exits before the download is complete is where the problem may lie. If I have rename files option checked, ALL files are downloaded again. If I don't have that option checked then I will get a failure on the entire NZB reporting that the file already exists.
I thought Newsbin previously would look at the file, see it's already downloaded and skip what was already done. With this version it appears to restart from the beginning with no resume. This leads to lots of duplicate files that were not part of the rar due to the rename.
If I am missing an option somewhere, please let me know (and move this to the newbie forum) because going through each one I could not find anything that appeared relevant.
It may be similar to this thread as there were no PAR files http://forums.newsbin.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=32011
