Split screen view lost

One way or the other the split screen mode is lost and I can't manage to get it back.
Tried drag and drop, but at all times I end up with the tabs at the top and only (e.g.) filenames listed down uptil the status bar.

In the below example:



Half way there is a separate screen "Download List"with separate tabs.

With me, that one has gone, so the download list is displayed as a tab only.
BTW: I know, I can move around the tabs and make each tab floatable.

Am using 6.40 b 2059

Is there a kind of reset view only?
(meaning : not resetting the settings )

In the options, in 6.42 there's a "reset display layout on restart" option. Not sure if it's in 6.40. If not, you can delete the workspace.xml in the data folder. If you exit Newsbin and delete it, it'll restart you'll get the default view.
