UnRAR with Custom Name-already possible or feature request?

Hi, is there a possibility to add a feature that doesn't only allow to UnRAR to a specific folder but also with a custom name? Think of a file that is called "Movie.XYZ.1020p.rmx.blablabla.1986.bla.blabla.mkv". Is it technically possible to have a right-click-on-file feature that allows "Assign New UnRAR Path with New File Name"? I then would be able to assign the file name like "Movie 1986.mkv" or whatever format it is. I would LOVE this feature :D

Cheers

PS: Please move this post, if it is in the wrong forum. Sry for any inconvenience.

You could try $(FILENAME) or $(SUBJECT) in the unrar path. If the files came from an NZB File, you can also include the NZB Filename in the path with $(NZBFILE)

This is assuming you're using 6.42.

Hmmm, thanks for the quick reply, but it seems I'm too stupid: after opening the nzb and allowing Newsbin Pro to open it the file appears in the download list of Newsbin Pro. Then I'm right clicking on the file in Newsbin Pro and choosing "Assign New Unrar Path" and in the "folder" box below there is for example "Content 3 (I:)" as the new target folder. So should I add it there? Means: "Content 3 (I:) $Example File.mkv"?

Sorry for being that stupid...I hoped for a more convenient way.

If you look in the options, under the download path. You can set the unrar path. Seems to me you want to set an unrar path there that generates an unrar path so, you don't have to manually generate an unrar path.

It's not so much about the UnRAR path, maybe I wasn't clear enough: it's about the filename. I would like to set a new individual filename for each download before downloading, so when the files are UnRARed they'll have a filename that I defined at the same time as I define the UnRAR path. So something like an extended "Assign New UnRAR Path" which not only allows to define the new path per file but also the new file name as described in my initial posting. As far as I understand you suggest a general handling in the options of NewsBin Pro, but I would like to have that for each file, not in the general options.

I'm so sorry for not being clearer, but I'm not a native speaker so sometimes it's hard für me to describe what I mean.

So the right-click option per file would be "Assign New UnRAR Path AND a New File Name".

I hope that clarifies what I mean.

Thanks for being so patient with a lamer like me

My fault, I didn't read what you wrote closely enough. Nobody has ever asked for this before.

What if there are multiple files in the RAR set?

I don't know to be honest. Now I understand that there will be a problem, if the download contains let's say a media file and an nfo. Maybe this was a stupid question/request from the beginning.

Sorry for wasting your time

It's not stupid. It's where new features come from.

When you request a feature, I have to explore how this feature might work and whether it'll break something else. That's just part of how this works. Often times fixing one thing will break something else so, you have to look at it from all angles. When I ask questions back, I'm exploring how you think it should work and considering whether it's something I can do.

Thanks, I'm feeling less stupid now :)

I didn't think of the implications, but you do. Ok, deal, next time I have an idea I will post it...but I'll think 5 minutes about the obvious implications like multiple files in RAR-sets.
