Bizarre Event: Same 9 jpgs get re-queued each time

I've had this difficulty since having to reinstall everything on my computer [complete hard drive failure].
There are nine jpgs from about 200 days ago, that - every time Newsbin goes to download new headers - are added via the auto-download function, to my download queue. However, they have been downloaded before, and likely at this point (with the number of times I've run the program since) have been re-added to the queue despite having been downloaded already.
They are dismissed as duplicates each time. But shouldn't they no longer be added to the queue? I mean, they are about eight months old, they are from the same newsgroup each time, and the program 'should' have a record of them already being accessed, shouldn't it? It's not a big deal, just a tiny bit of a nuisance.
Hopefully this is clear [brain's fried from about 40 HOURS of reinstalling/reconfiguring the many programs I use]; sorry if it isn't.
Thank you very much for your help!

Likely the group they're coming from is getting no traffic so, "Overlap" is downloading the same 10 headers over and over so the files end up queued again. You could set to the overlap to 5 (server options) and see if it stops. You could disable updating a dead group too. It's your choice.

Thank you! I'd thought they'd been coming from the group getting processed at the time, but after reading your response I checked the Failed Files list and found they'd been in an earlier-processed group that just showed up with a slight delay. I've disabled all groups not showing large numbers of new files and since they were in one of them, likely will never see them again.
Sorry for wasting your time.

I'm not sure you're right about this one Quade. I'm having a similar problem, but I don't have any groups set to auto download files on getting new posts.
What happens is this.... if I add a lot of small files to my download lists (mainly jpg images, but it also happens with pars, sfvs, nfos, etc.) during download a number of these files will download ok, but will also be re-added to the bottom of my download queue. If I move them to the top, it just copies them again. If I have duplicate detection switched off, I can end up with up to 6 copies of some of these smaller files. I've occasionally seen duplication of larger (over 5Mb) files, but not often enough to be certain that it's the same problem. Some stuff does get posted twice after all.
I'm using 6.42RC3 build 2413, but I'm pretty sure this problem existed in the previous beta I was using. I originally thought it was a news server problem, but the same thing happens if I load the files from my wish list. There's one copy in the wish list & I start with one copy in the download list, but as soon as the small stuff starts downloading it copied some (not all, but quite a lot) of them back onto the bottom of the download list.
I'm on 32bit Windows XP, up-to date & have a Giganews Diamond account.
I'm watching this particular phenomenon at the moment. Interestingly, while I get multiple downloads when dupe detection is off, when it's on, they're not being added to either the failed list, or the downloaded list on the second & subsequent attempts. I'm sure I've seen them failed before. Maybe that only happens if I close NBP during the download. I will now try this...
Paused the download, moved all the files that were reloaded on the bottom of the list to the top, closed the program & reopened it.
Everything appeared to download, nothing was added to the failed list, not files we re-added to the bottom of the download list. I see no duplicates in the download folder. I think the duplicates were recognised as already downloaded & simply went away as they came to the top. I'm really not sure what's going on here, but I think I need to get my wish list emptied (it has several thousand items in it at the moment) & do a series of new test from scratch, with a new set of files & a new download folder & record what happens. Might take a while, but I'll get back to you.

I've seen this several times but not lately (now using NB4.2F1). If I added say 50 files to the download list they downloaded without any problems but a few would be re-added to the bottom of the download list and download again but renamed (numbered).

I've not seen it but, that doesn't mean it's not happening.
I'm unclear how I'd reproduce such a thing. I could imagine if say, if you're downloading headers from multiple servers, the group is in "automode" and one server is slower than the other. I download a couple picture group too so, you'd think it would happen to me too.

It's odd isn't it? As I said in my original post, I'll do some tests & record every detail, even what I downloaded from which group. That way you can see if you can duplicate it your end.
For whatever it's worth, I only use Giganews & I don't use automode. I have NBP set to auto-download new headers when I open it, but other than that I do everything manually. I even stopped using Autounrar, as it was causing me problems on posts that I didn't actually want extracting. Easier to do it manually.
