Date of Header Oddity

Postby nimzovich » Sat Jan 12, 2013 10:45 am

Switched over to AstraWeb recently.
Downloaded full list of groups
Subscribed to group and pulled down all headers
I have headers dating back 1500 days or so with large gaps between
Most current header info is from 19 days days ago
Have been looking thru posts on headers/display issues but cannot seem to get any recent headers to show up.

Thank You
Nimzo

Keep in mind that 1500 days of headers in one group might be a few hundred, in others many, *many* millions(i.e. I'm doubting you downloaded all headers for some of these without taking many days). Also, some groups have more activity than others. Some go dark for weeks or even months, so it's difficult to tell what you're seeing.

Most likely, though, the issue is you've downloaded a lot of headers, but Newsbin is still injecting them into the database. You can check this progress by looking at the bottom of the program, the Cache entry. If you see a number in brackets e.g. "60/100(500)" then Newsbin is still working on them. When the number in brackets goes away, it's caught up.

If you downloaded all headers from a monster group like boneless, you'd be waiting a very very long time for that to process. Just getting them in the first place would take some time.

Thank You very much Dt for taking the time to respond. Very helpful. I checked your suggestions.
There must be something in the way I have my display options set.

It's unlikely given you're missing the most recent(which suggests the cache issue I mentioned), but one thing to do is to completely disable filters by turning them off(looks like a power button all the way on the left of the posts tab). Even set to 'none', newsbin uses your Global filter unless you completely turn filters off.
