Just went from 5.x to 6.x. A few quick questions...

I just installed the latest version of NewsBin (6.41 coming from 5.x). I have some questions about this version, if I may...

1. I edited the NBI file to get rid of the gray background and restore it to white. How can I now get rid of the grid lines?

2. For the Internet Search feature, how do I indicate that I'm doing a regex search rather than keyword? And what flavor of RegEx does NewsBin use?

3. Where are the offline installers located?

Thanks!

1 - They're be off by default in 6.50. Not sure how to do it in 6.41 (without some digging). I'll look at the code.

2 - I-Search doesn't use regex. It's more like boolean searches. You can regex the results of the search in the find box after your results are downloaded.

3 - Don't know what this is. You means full installer? I think Dex has a link.

Thanks! But if it's too much trouble, don't worry about it. If the gridlines are off in the next version, that's good enough for me.

Ah, okay. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes. I've never been a fan of web installers. I like to know and have control of what version I'm downloading, and I don't want to have to be dependent on an internet connection during install.

p.s. Thanks for your help!

Once you install it once, you can make a copy of the program files folder for Newsbin and maintain as many versions as you like. The web installer is just the entry point. If you copy the program files folder to a different machine, it'll work fine with a little setup. Newsbin's pretty clean, it needs little in the way of setup and installs nothing in the windows folders.
