Turned on the computer today and tried to start Newsbin and I get a windows error "NewsbinPro Newsgroup Reader has stopped working". "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." And it shuts the program down. Any help?

If you do a complete wipe and re-install (which I suspect you haven't done yet) and it won't start, I'd suspect a problem with your PC. More likely though, some data file is corrupted. I think I'd wipe and re-install from scratch.

If you know where the data folder is, you could try deleting all the DB3 files in the data folder (delete or move).

Well that fixed it. Saved my configuration files and my spool_V6 files then completely un-installed newsbin (all files folders and registry keys). Re-installed , restored my configuration and spools files and it is working great!. Thanks for the help.

I found that with the new RC I was having random crashes. After cleaning up the download list etc it seemed to improve. Then it started crashing immediately on launch (ok, up for .5 second and crash).

Turns out I've been using the same install directory for years without a fresh start. I found that renaming the plugin directory (with 3 .dll files from 2004) did the trick nicely.

Pretty sure no-one else will have my "silly" problem - But just in case. Image link not allowed for unregistered users

& Thanks very much for the wonderful creation called Newsbin! Image link not allowed for unregistered users

That's odd. Sounds like it was trying to load some old DLL files if that was really the only change you made to address the crashing.

Similar strange problem.
After going to 6.52 I received the "Newsbin not working" notice. Reinstalled 6.51 (and 6.50 because a new problem hit).
Running 6.51 (and 6.50) ... seems to not want to down load a file (from Giganews) in a group that I recently down loaded the headers. I am told that file can not be downloaded because I do not have the subscription to the Newsbin internet search feature (which I do not have).
Additionally, when i use the Search tab to search my Local profiles for files, I receive a small number of results that are very old (Search mode = Local and Age = None). When I set Age = 6 Months, I see multiple search results over the last 6 months. Previously the Search feature gave me a full time range of local search results. Trying to download a file will occasionally have the "Newsbin Internet search subscription" popup block the download.

I am not very knowledgeable with Windows 7 and do not want to tinker with renaming windows dll folders (if I read previous post correctly?).

I have copied the Newsbin Folder to another Hard drive. Should I completely uninstall Newsbin and do a install of the 6.52 version and put the SpoolV6 Folder into the reinstalled Newsbin Directory? Or, are there a couple of files that can be deleted/manipulated to address the above?
