Slower download speeds with 6.4

I just upgraded from version 5 to 6.4 64 bit on Windows 7. With v5 I was able to max out my connection and get download speeds near 30Mbps. With v6.4, all of my downloads hover around 16-17Mbps. I have tried SSL and non-SSL with no change. No speed limiting is enabled. My news service is Easynews but I don't it is an issue with them or my ISP since my speeds were normal until I upgraded.

Any ideas?? :?

I'm getting 100 Mbps here.

If you look at the status bar (on the bottom) the "Cache" entry. Do you see a number in parens "(NN)"? If so, Newsbin is importing headers and that might impact this.

Not giving me much to work with. Did you look in the logging tab for any errors?

Not sure what else you may need to help you. I have done alot of troubleshooting myself, aside from reverting back to v5 and seeing if the issue persists.

Log tab shows no errors. Online speed tests report back full download speeds. Tried changing to alternate server addresses from Easynews.

Oddly enough, I just noticed that while downloading, if I run a header update, my speed will max out to 30 but once the headers are done downloading, speeds drop back to around 17.

What does the cache count show? 0/100 would indicate it's bottlenecking on disk IO.

So, basically the bottleneck is the network or CPU load. Newsbin's just idling along. Not sure where to take it right now. If you have a non MS V scanner or firewall, I might remove, re-boot and try again. You could also give Giganews a free trial and see what your speeds are like.

Issue turned out to be with my ISP. Even though online speed tests were giving correct speeds, NNTP download speeds were still at about 1/2. I chatted online with my ISP and they confirmed I was paying for the 30Mbps package. Then as I am chatting with them, my connection drops and when it comes back, I am miraculously getting full NTP download speeds.

Anyway, thanks for the support!
